What is Microsuction Ear Wax Removal?

Microsuction is a safe and precise method of removing ear wax using a gentle suction device and specialist magnification. This allows clear visibility inside the ear canal and enables accurate removal without the use of water.

It is considered safer than traditional ear syringing and is suitable for patients with sensitive ears, previous infections, or perforated eardrums. Most treatments are quick and completed within minutes.

What is Ear Wax?

Ear wax is a natural substance produced by the ear to moisturise and protect against dust, germs, and irritation. For most people, it clears itself naturally. However, sometimes ear wax builds up or becomes stuck due to the shape of the ear canal, leading to blocked ears, discomfort, or temporary hearing loss. In these cases, professional ear wax removal is recommended.

Professional Ear Wax Removal via Microsuction

Our clinics use microsuction, the gold-standard method for ear cleaning. This quick, safe, and effective procedure uses a gentle suction device under a specialist microscope to remove earwax with precision.

Unlike traditional ear syringing, microsuction ear wax removal does not introduce water into the ear, making it especially suitable for patients with sensitive ears, a history of ear infections, or perforated eardrums. Benefits include:

  • Immediate relief from blocked ears.
  • Improved hearing clarity.
  • Reduced tinnitus and earache.
  • Safe treatment carried out by trained professionals.

Ear Wax Removal for Hearing Aid Users

If you wear hearing aids and are struggling with muffled sound, whistling feedback, or reduced clarity, it may be due to a build-up of ear wax. Hearing aids can act as a barrier, preventing natural wax clearance. Our specialist ear wax removal service ensures your ears are clear so your hearing aids can work at their best.

Oiling Process

Learn How to Oil Your Ears

olive oil ear drops
1.

Only use olive oil ear drops

You maybe tempted or advised to use other products such as Sodium Bicarbonate or OTEX Express. However, these products break the earwax down too much causing ear canal and ear drum smearing. This is extremely hard to remove. If you stick with olive oil we will to a much better job. Read more about it on our dedicated blog post here!

2.

Oil for 3 - 5 days before your appointment

Everyone is different when it comes to earwax texture. Some require oiling and others don't. Unless we have stated otherwise, please oil your ears for 3 - 5 days before your appointment. This will help to soften your earwax perfectly.

3.

Massage your Ears

This might sound trivial but by massaging your ears at the front and back simultaneously helps to move the earwax off your ear canal walls. This helps to reduce risk of discomfort when the earwax is removed.

4.

Oil morning or night

Depending on your day to day activities you can choose to oil in the morning or before you go to bed. For those that wear hearing aids during the day it is recommended to oil in the evening before bed.
